Karen Kennedy Enamel Disc Picture

Enamel disc picture by Karen Kennedy in copper colour frame.  Made in Caldbeck, the Lake District.

Each disc starts life as a flat copper round before being hammered into a slight dish.  The natural copper colour on the bottom of the picture is where the design process begins and is fixed using a clear enamel.  The patterns the firing makes are unique every single time.  The enamel is then laid in layers, each single layer is fired every time to fix it.  Each picture takes around ten firings in the kiln.
